Frequently Asked Questions

Please refer to our Help Page for more tips and suggestions for using our Virtual Library.

1) Why do you have sites, including sites about dinosaurs and fossils, that do not directly relate to anthropology or produced by anthropologists?

The main purpose of this web site is to provide resources in the many sub-fields of anthropology.  In terms of "non-related" sites, they actually do relate.  For example, dinosaur and fossil sites are pertinent to Paleoanthropologists, Paleontologists and Quaternary Study majors.

2) Can you provide information on a particular subject or issue?

If there are not resources listed in our directory, it most likely means that there is currently a lack of Internet resources for that particular subject matter.  We are continually surfing the Web and Internet to identify resources that will be useful for our web visitors.  So, in other words, we cannot address all inquires sent to us.

3) Why do you have different search engines in your web site?

The main reason is that our searchable database files are configured differently.  Also, we want to ensure that web visitors will be able to find information pertinent to different sections of our web site.

4) Why do some links have votes with no ratings (stars or best) next to them?

As of September 8,1999, we have changed our rating scale.   So, it will take some time for the rating image to be placed next to the link. Images that have No Ratings will have the following image next to them: No Ratings.

5) Why are some of the links I have added in My Bookmarks are no longer posted?

We routinely analyze our directory for outdated, dead, and moved links.  When links are deleted from our directory, they are automatically deleted from your My Bookmarks directory.

6) Why are the Sites of the Week gone? I received a Site of the Week Award awhile back. But the graphic and award are no longer available.

We have changed our award distribution to one a month rather than multiple awards per week.  We have archived the Sites of the Week at the following web page:

http://vlib.anthrotech.com/awards/archive/

The Site of the Week has moved to the following location:
